U.S. Army Airborne Division Demonstrates Unit Pride with New Military Challenge Coins and Custom Bottle Openers The Screaming Eagles, established in 1958, are a component of the Army’s 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). Based in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, the Army’s oldest parachute demonstration team has performed demonstration jumps all over the world averaging 45 live aerial shows per year. By taking full advantage of the thrill that is sport skydiving, the Screaming Eagles not only promote the United States Army, but also support its community relations. Representing the 101st Airborne Division and its steadfast tradition brings a great source of pride to the Screaming Eagles. To display and share that pride among themselves and others, the parachute demonstration team recently added two new custom challenge coins and bottle opener dog tags to their series of commemorative items. Both of the commemorative coins were done in a silver finish with a clear epoxy dome on the side that portrays the division’s or team’s well known insignia. However, each custom coin relays the message in a different way.
One unit coin displays, in full color, the head of a proud eagle in the middle of a black crest. Resonating around its outer edge, in block letters, is an announcement of the 101st Airborne Division, Air Assault and its Fort Campbell, Kentucky location.
The second challenge coin confidently displays the eagle’s head amid a smaller version of the black crest, is accented by expanding wings and topped with the image of an open parachute. The block letters surrounding it read: Screaming Eagles Parachute Demonstration Team.
